Well Hello There!

I'm so sorry for not posting for almost 1 month but work, life, renovations, uni and exams took over the month of June. When I reflect on the last few months, it's been rather hectic, uni has been great and I've received top marks for all my assignments, just waiting for the exam results and fingers crossed I've done well there too. Then to top it all off I got a promotion at work, I'm now part of management, not sure if that's a good or a bad thing, could mean lots more work but I'll tackle it head on like I do most things.

My stitching mojo is a bit slow recovering however I have managed to complete my first block for Carpe Dieum...it's my first attempt at raw edge machine applique.

I bought the kit from Esmes, it's very bright and cheery!

Something else that has distracted me lately is this trilogy
Everyone I know including myself have loved this series, it's not your typical mills and boon type novel, it's much hotter! I was a bit sad when I finished the last book, now I have to find something just as good...any suggestions?

Assignments are interfering with Stitching!

It seems I never have enough time for stitching lately, possibly because I have assignments to do. I just finish one and then another lands in my lap and they're never small assignments. I'm no accountant but I have to analyse the financial reports of an ASX listed company over 3 consecutive years! So I've had my head in the books giving myself a crash course and I have to complete it in time so I can go to the Launceston Craft Show in two weeks. Plus there's another round of workshops in between.

Anyway I know you haven't come here to listen to me moaning about my workload so I'll leave you with a little pick of the next quilt I was preparing before these assignments took over.

Doesn't this look sweet? It's from a quilt called Carpe Dieum and is available from Esmes in a kit. I couldn't resist and neither could another of my quilting allies!

Squeezing in a little stitchin'

Life is busy for me at the moment, in between work, family and uni I'm still managing to squeeze in a little bit of sewing.

I finished the cute hexagon thread catcher that Vicki showed everyone how to make at "Let's Get Stiitched", it's so simple to make and the end result is very cute.
I started working on the pillow that Dawn provided a pattern for and showed us all how easy it was to cut the shapes out using a GoCutter.
Aren't those flowers sweet!

I've also been working on a swap for Friends in Stitching (online group), I can't so you any photos of that just yet but it's looking rather cute.

The first few workshops at Uni have been great, my first assignment has been completed and marked....
8.5 out of 10, not too bad considering I'm not the best writer.
Next assignment is 750 words, we're working up to 3000 words for the third.

I hope to show you photos next week of my new craft room, still a little bit of stuff to sort through but it's looking lovely.

Red, red and more red!

Every now and again I do a swap with one of my bloggy friends from around the globe, this time it was with Sue from Chickadee's Country Cottage. Sue lives in Canada with her husband and lovely sweet puppies, you should checkout Daisy, she has the sweetest face.  We decided to swap bags and they both arrived on the same day! Look at this beauty, lovely reds and a great size for a magazine, my lunch box and whatever else I want to take to work. I LOVE it!
Sue also made me a gorgeous bauble, she calls them Friendship balls!
I'll have to find it a special spot in my new craft room which by the way the accent colour I have chosen is RED!!
and also in the package, an Alberta Calendar and for a sugar high...Jelly beans YYYUmmo!!
Thank-you so much Sue, I feel very spoilt!
So pop on over to Sue's I'm sure she'll show you what I sent soon!

And to really top off my week I received a Scholarship!!
I'm going back to Uni
I'm doing a Graduate Certificate in Business, over the next year for once a month I'll be attending workshops for a couple of days. So to my bloggy friends in the north of the state keep an eye out for me floating around Burnie! It's going to be a busy year!!
