Keeping Up Appearances!

Since my last few posts were a bit pictureless I thought it was time to show you what I've been working on.

Firstly I've completed Helen's Quilt Aid Block

and I've done the stitchery for Natalie's
I've completed Gail Pan's Noel block

and here's my mystery quilt (still in pieces) from last Saturday's big Quilt In held by Helen and Miss M.

I'm lacking a bit of contrast in the bottom blocks but I don't care as the fabric is gorgeous! The fabric range is called "Blessings" by Moda. If you're looking for it then head over to Mother's Cupboard!

A Big Weekend!

The Craft and Quilt Fair was in town, so Mum and I headed off to the Derwent Entertainment Centre to shop and also help out on Rosemary's stall "Stitch In Time". It was so much fun playing shopkeeper and meeting lots of lovely ladies. I met Lenna and Jan, both as lovely in person as they are in blogland. I also caught up with Cathy and Sarah, Leanne was there but I didn't see her. Sorry I have no pictures to share of these lovely ladies but I did take a couple of snaps of the things I bought.
It's not too much though as I've just purchased the Quilted Crow's Finishing Kit for The Quilt Aid project. I've even made a start on Helen's block!

Helen received a Highly Commended award for one of her entries and Diedre won a Long Arm Quilter Award, Congrats to both of you!! Diedre quilted the most amazing quilt, which was handpieced by Paula, thousands of hexagons, about 1" in size, truly a work of art. I was told it took 11 months to complete! Congratulations to Paula for your award too.

Quilt Aid 2009

Woo Hoo! Quilt Aid 2009 kicks off today. Checkout the Quilt Aid website for stockists and also pics of the finishing kits and there's also a couple more pics on Helen's website.
I've ordered my first block and I'm still deciding on which finishing kit I'll do. I hope you're joining in , it's for a worthy cause and you'll end up with a gorgeous quilt!

A big thank-you to Helen for all the work she has done it getting this altogether, it's been a big job co-ordinating all the designers and shops and also thank-you to the shops for coming up with the finishing quilts.

I'm a lucky duck!

I'm so lucky to have been given a sneak preview of the Quilt Aid project "Bluebird of Hope", you may have seen a few tidbits popping up in blogland about this exciting new project! There's 12 well known Aussie Designers and 12 Aussie Quilt Shops all taking part and believe me when I say that this is going to be fantastic!
It's co-ordinated by Helen and I must say she's done a terrific job getting everyone on board. The fabric range being used is Satchet Pot Pourri, aren't the colours just devine!!

Now the most important piece of info about this project is that the funds raised will go to a World Vision project - Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital in Ethiopia. The project goal is to provide services for those suffering from childbirth and related injuries, rehabilitating them to the point where they can be intergrated back into society with dignity and a sense of self worth.

So if you find yourself looking for a new BOM then look no further as this one is truly worth doing, you'll not only finish up with an exquisite quilt but you will have helped a worthy cause. It commences in June so if you're interested you can register online here and get in first!!
