Cutie bag

I was determined this weekend to make a bag and using this pattern that I purchased from Patchworks Plus I whipped up this little cutie.
It was pretty simple to make but I really hat doing gathering, I'm always inpatient, break the threads and have to start again. This is going to be a gift for a friend's daughter who has to have an operation on her spine and I'll fill it with some goodies that will hopefully bring a smile to her face.

I'm not a fan of gathering either...but it does look good, especially the big bow.

Hi Jo, I love the bag you made. I quickly jumped over to the site you can purchase the pattern from and what a difference in bags! It really depends on the colours you use. I love both bags. Kind regards, Anita.

What a pretty bag. I'm sure she'll be very happy to get it. I started a new purse project yesterday, without realizing that it has literally dozens of pieces. It looks simple from the outside. lol But oodles of pockets lurk within. It should be fun to put together - a real puzzle!

Happy stitching,

What a lovely bag. Instead of gathering, quite often I can replace it with little pleats, which are much quicker to do, and neat as well.

a hint for lots of gathering- stitch a BIG zig zag over dental floss - then pull up the dental floss to gather, pin and stitch into place then just pull it out from under the zig zag... dental floss wont break when pulling up lots of heavy gathers and becuase of the wax it pulls out easily... H
