AQC 2009 & Secret Squirrel Revealed

Well AQC 2009 was huge, I had such a fabulous time. Helen, Sarah and I stayed at the Mayflower on Lonsdale hotel, small but comfortable and it was within walking distance of the Royal Exhibition Building at Carlton Gardens
It's a grand old buildinginside is beautifuland I love the artwork on the walls

I shopped, looked at some magnificant quilts on display and did lots of talking. I met the lovely Gail Pan and chatted with her for ages. Leanne Beasely, Rosalie and Melly were all there too but they were all busy.

My MIL came along on Friday, was lovely to see her again, we both share the quilting passion.

I also caught up with fellow tassie bloggers, Highland Quilter, Lizzie's Page, Aunties Quaint Quilts (AQQ) & Harmony Junkie (HJ). Helen, Sarah and I also ran into AQQ & HJ at IKEA where we took some time out on a comfy sofa!

Do you recognise this quilt? Neenie's Garden by Helen, it was displayed in the Best of Shows, this picture shows it being critiqued by Sarah, Helen and Leonnie & Diedre from The Quilted Crow.

One of the highlights of the trip was meeting Jodie from Ric-Rac. Remember the Secret Squirrel project I was working on well it was for Jodie! I road tested her dolly pattern, yes Jodie has produced some patterns, these were available at the show. Here's Jodie serving at the Ballarat Patchwork Stall and you can see her dollies up in the background.

and here's my version, please meet "Pip", here she is in her PJ's with her moggy "Mog"and here's she is all dressed for the show! The lovely Jodie gave me some beautiful gifts for doing this, all of the patterns and kits will be on sale at the Stitches and Craft show in Melbourne in a couple of weeksI'd like to wish Jodie the best of luck at the Stitches and Craft Show and thank-you for allowing me to be the first to make one of your dolls, they are just adorable. I hope we've made the pattern easy for others to follow!

As for the show I've also got a few more snaps to show but I'll leave that for the next post as I feel exhausted just thinking about our whirlwind visit!
