I just wanted to write this down:
I was out the front of my workplace this afternoon when a young male driver sped down the street and hit a ginger moggy, he stopped about 50 metres down the road whilst the poor moggy writhed around. I called out to my office mate to grab some towels and I raced over to see if the moggy needed first aid. It was obvious it had sustained major injuries and was taking it's last breaths. I put my hand on her body and patted her gently as she drifted off. It was so sad witnessing the end of her life.
The young driver's female passenger had gotten out of the car and raced to the cat too while he just stood at the car and didn't seem to care less.
I'm not a cat lover and believe they should be kept in cat runs but I accept everyone has different opinions. I just don't like to see an animal suffer, it's heartbreaking. This cat had a lovely little collar and the Council Animal Control Officer told me it had been desexed however it was not microchipped so the owner could not be traced and notified. She was taken away to a vet where they keep her for a week (in a freezer) and if the owner thinks to go to the vet within the next week they might just find out her fate.
So the moral to this story is please microchip your pets, especially if they like to roam, and make sure you keep the details upto date. And the second moral of the story is to beware there's idiots on our roads!
